About Ann Swabey
I have been working as a Professional Military and Family History Researcher for around 12 years.
I live close to the National Archives at Kew and my visits there to research my own Family History and that of family members who served in the Army and Royal Air Force aroused my interest in Military Research. My work in this field quickly led to me becoming the recommended researcher for the Sherwood Foresters Museum and Archive and for the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. Whilst both have their own records, my work at the National Archives supplements their resources and allows me to find out additional information for any requests for information they receive.
My research on my own family history means that I have become very knowledgeable about sources, how to interpret records and how to approach problems which led me to offer a Family History research service to others, which I continue to do.
My proximity to the National Archives and the British Library in London means that I regularly visit these repositories and have wide experience of using their records on numerous topics.
Over the years I have researched hundreds of servicemen in the Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Merchant Navy, covering Service records, Medal records and Operational records.
My detailed Family History research for clients has enabled me to solve many a problem!
I hope the Testimonials on my website will show you how professional and thorough I am.
